I haven’t written in this for a while, but with several new residents, I thought it might be helpful. Plus, I have several things that I wanted to share with you. For those of you who are new, this is not a regular Blog, but every once in a while, I like to share with the community, just for fun. This website has also helped us spread the word about any condos for sale and/or getting to know the area and what it has to offer....like Frosty Tip will probably only be opened for another week. Eventually, I’ll also have the latest governing documents posted here for easy reference. Right now, there’s just the space for them as they had been updated so I took down the old ones.
As some of you know, this week, Ron had a bicycle accident and is recovering now at home from some fractured vertebrae and his tailbone. It will be a while before he will be on his bike again. They maybe could use some meals or some other kind of help, so you might want to reach out to them.
Speaking of new residents, welcome to Dolly & Bob Wiegand, who have moved in above me, and to Vicki Nellis, who has moved into Nick and Gina’s condo. And congratulations to Nick and Gina who have moved into Vee & Frank’s condo. Whew! Lots of welcomed changes!
Taking that step to move to an Assisted Living is not always easy, but it is better if one can do it when one is healthy like Vee & Frank. While one is sorry to leave the last home, it does take an open mind in order to allow for that adjustment to happen with a lighter heart. That readiness needs to start long before the move. (Think: accepting changes, preparing finances, what kind of housing, downsizing, starting a new chapter, and more). I’m going to be heading a series of “mindset preparations” at my church regarding this, so that’s why I’m sort of on my band wagon. Recently, I watched two movies on Netflix that addressed this phase in life. You might like them, too. Nostalgia 2018 is a 1h 54m mosaic of stories about love and loss. The movie explores our relationships to the objects, artifacts that shape our lives from different perspectives and age groups. The other one is What They Had 2018 1h 41m, Bridget (Hilary Swank) returns home at her brother’s (Michael Shannon) urging to deal with her ailing mother (Blythe Danner) who has Alzheimers. If anyone is interested in getting together, socially distanced somewhere outside, and talking about either of these, let me know. Instead of a Book Club, it would be like a Movie Club. Nothing formal, just friends sharing ideas.
Last, but not least, I want to share with you that Gerrie’s beloved Ming is no longer with us. She had been failing for quite some time, so Gerrie felt it was time. We all loved this gentle and quiet Siberian Husky. Gerrie often joked that we’d pay more attention to Ming than to her. I know you’ll want to reach out to Gerrie as we all know that losing a pet is just as significant as losing a family member.
